Geelani says TeH most disciplined, strongest organization

Geelani says TeH most disciplined, strongest organizationTerming the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) as a most disciplined and strongest organization with a clear stand in the Kashmir struggle, Chairman Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Geelani Monday issued special directions to the central as well as district officials of the party to specify first fifteen days of the month of April for the membership drive of the party.

Geelnai passed the direction so that more people especially youth could get into the party fold and work for the Kashmir cause, a statement issued here said.

He said TeH is although a cadre based organization spread at length and breadth of the state but the need of the time was to make this party larger, stronger and more proactive and it needs an immediate attention.

Explaining the history of the “Tehreek-e-Hurriyat”, Geelani in a statement from New Delhi said this party was created in 2004 not an addition to the already dozens of the organizations and nor was it created ‘by-the-way or any one’s hobby’ but it was the time when the struggle of the Kashmir witnessed a crucial phase and its future seemed uncertain at that time.

“It was the time when the Pakistan, who has always supported the right to self determination of the Kashmiris on moral, diplomatic and political fronts, its then president ignoring the national policy of Pakistan on Kashmir had suggested four point formula which was quite contrary to the sacrifices, wishes and aspirations of the Kashmiri nation,” Geelani said.

He said some voices were also raised from the Jammu & Kashmir in the support of this formula and General Parvaiz was also tagged as “Messiah”.

Geelani said, “At that time I was sure that India and General Parvaiz Musharaf are jointly going to bury the Kashmir issue and no forum containing different organizations, who are north and south poles in their thinking can stop this thing to happen.”

Geelani said at this crucial stage I decided to establish such an organization which will have a clear and unambiguous stand on Kashmir issue, which can work on ground level and is present in every village, town and city of the state.

He said the half a decade work and struggle of the Tehreek-e-Islami proved very beneficial for us in this regard and this ‘revolutionary thought helped us in making the “Tehreek-e-Hurriyat” for which the Tehreek-e-Islami had struggled very hard in Kashmir. “This thought was not now limited to the few thousand souls but it had shift to a generation by inheritance. This new generation became Tehreek-e-Hurriyat and spread to every nock and corner of Kashmir.”

Geelani said Delhi and the state administration are “persecuting and prosecuting the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat from the very first day of its creation and its members and affiliates are subjected to worst kind of excesses. They are often detained under the black and inhuman laws but despite all this the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat is moving ahead with determination and courage and its experienced leaders and activists are firm on their stand.”
